Katniss Everdeen Inspired Fall look

Sweater: Dex via TJ Maxx // Pants: dENiZEN by Lee // Boots: S.E. Boutique

As I mentioned in a previous post, I ran to my nearest TJ Maxx after seeing Catching Fire. I just had to get my hands on as many Katniss-inspired sweaters as I could. I think looks captures exactly what I was going for. Doesn’t it just scream District 12?

The hi low sweater is by Dex Clothing. This was one of my favorite purchases from TJ Maxx. I’m a huge fan of anything that is dark, olive green. Not only is this piece in one of my favorite colors but it features these really cool crocheted parts that cut across the sweater at various parts. As if the sweater was falling apart and someone tried to salvage it by sewing the pieces back together. Again, what a great piece to capture the poor and frigid atmosphere of District 12 in Catching Fire. I’m wearing a black Target tank top underneath for modesty.

The black skinny jeans are dENiZEN by Levi’s, which I picked up Target. They’re a staple piece that every woman should own. You can wear them in a classic Audrey Hepburn style with a cute pair of flats or tucked in boots, like I’m wearing them here. The black knee-high boots with gunmetal hardware are by S.E. Boutique. I love Sam Edelman so I snatched these up as soon as I saw them on sale at DSW.

Katniss has a bit of a signature look when it comes to her hair. She’s all about braids. Unfortunately, I’m not the best braider in the world, especially not on myself (I’m getting pretty good when it comes to my daughter’s braids). So I did the easiest, next best thing – twists!

Katniss wears very little makeup when she’s home. So, in the spirit of Ms. Everdeen, I’ve kept my makeup über simple. I’m wearing my bareMinerals foundation,  blush and bronzer from Tarte‘s Off The Cuff Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Palette, and CoverGirl Lipsticks Smoochies Sizzle Gloss in 546 Turn Up The Heat from the Capitol Collection.
