As I mentioned on my Instagram, I had a small viewing party for the final match of the World Cup – Argentina Vs. Germany. I had a great time and I was able make some delicious dishes that I wanted to share with you. Now, these aren’t all the things we made but just my stand-out favorites.
I’m not a connoisseur of German food, so I did the next best thing. I created an appetizer display using the colors of the German flag. For Black, I had a delicious and spicy Sabra Black Bean Hummus dip. For the red, I had chunky Tostitos Salsa. And for the yellow, I served a mild Tostitos nacho cheese Dip. These were accompanied by Tostitos restaurant style chips and Stacy’s Simply Naked Pita Chips (sooooo good!).
My Argentine dish is a classic in the South American country’s cuisine – Chimichurri Steak. My husband helped me grill the steak pieces while I made the tart, parsley based chimichurri sauce. I served it over a thick pieces of artisanal baguette. It was ah-mazing, if I do say so myself.
To honor the country in which the Mundial took place, Brasil, I made this Brazilian chicken and rice dish. This was super easy to make and a great way to ensure your guests are full by the end of the party.
As cute fútbol-themed appetizer, I cut up slices of cheddar and jack cheese into soccer jerseys. I also created a soccer ball using the same two cheeses. I served these with three different kings of crackers. My nephew was a huge fan as well as some of my other party guests. (Check out this Instagram post from one of them here)
I knew I would never have enough time to make a great world cup-themed dessert, so I sought the help of a professional. Check out these adorable soccer cake balls made by Angela of Making That Cake. Not only were they absolutely scrumptious but the perfectly decorated my soccer-themed tablescape in a way I never could. All the guests enjoyed one or more of these delicious treat – adults included.
