Wedding Guest Blues

Dress: Antonio Melani // Shoes: Sam Edelman // Purse: Mary Lai // Jewelry: Prima Donna

Dressing for a wedding can be almost as difficult as finding the perfect wedding dress. Only kidding! But it can be a headache to find the perfect dress to wear on such a special occasion. There are so many factors to consider. Where does the wedding take place? Will the reception be formal or cocktail? What time will the ceremony and reception be? Etc. Etc. Etc.

In this Outfit of the Day post, I’ll show you what I wore to a friend’s wedding in Florida the weekend before last.

As you all know, I love lace. My closet is full of it. This dress immediately caught by eye not only because of the lace but because of beautiful color it comes in. The white slip underneath really makes the cobalt blue pop.

Another great thing about this dress are the small panels on the side. The design works wonders on creating curves and emphasizing your small waist.

The length is also perfect for a wedding. Since the skirt falls to the knee, you don’t have to feel uncomfortable about showing too much skin if the ceremony takes place in a house of worship.

The same is true for the lace sleeves on this dress. Although the are 3/4 sleeves, because of the material and color, this dress does will not make you look like a conservative wallflower.

My favorite thing about the wedding guest look is the bag! I actually won this amazing Mary Lai AVA clutch at an event and I’m so glad I did. It’s made with embossed croc leather in this gorgeous sapphire color. It also features a fabulous thick gold toned chain. The best part?

It has two sides! One is a more conservative yet chic front side that showcases the beautiful leather finish. The back side is a lot edgier, featuring a gold toned metallic plate and black leather strap. Wear it over your shoulder or slip your hand through the strap to rock it as a clutch. Oh, and the gold plate also functions as a super fancy mirror for lipstick touchups!
You can purchase your very own Mary Lai AVA clutch here.

I know every woman wants to wear sky-high heels to all major events, especially weddings. But I never want to be those women dancing barefoot on the dance floor towards the end of the night. Therefore, I reached for these comfortable yet elegant Sam Edelman sling-back pumps.

I kept my makeup as simple as one can for a wedding, keeping the warm summer temperature in mind. I used my Make Up For Ever Duo Mat foundation, Urban Decay’s Flushed Streak blush palette and Urban Decay’s Basics eye shadow palette. I also created my signature winged eyeliner with Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner in Trooper and am eating Sephora’s Always Red matte lip stain on my lips.
