Skirt: ASOS via Poshmark // Top: Target // Leggings: Unknown // Shoes: Soda Anisa // Hat: vintage Vincent De Koven // Jewelry: My Pacific Pearls

In the next few days, I’m going to be featuring a few holiday looks with some of my favorite pieces and brands. I’m calling this one my Holiday Plaid. Red plaids just scream Christmas to me. My dinner table always had a plaid tablecloth during the month of December and I’m constantly seeing plaid in the decor of some of my favorite store windows. This outfit totally gets me into the holiday spirit and ready for any holiday party.

In this Outfit of the Day, I’m wearing a staple of my winter wardrobe – turtle necks. This one has a wide, cowl-like neck. I purchased this one and a few others at my local Target. What I love about turtle necks is that I can wear it in multiple ways when the weather gets colder. I can wear it on its own with a skirt or pant, or I can wear it under some of my favorite dresses from the Spring and Summer a la Eva Chen of Lucky Magazine. You should definitely get yourself a few in solid colors.

I paired this with the ah-mazing ASOS Check Midi Skirt that I purchased on Poshmark for just $15! I love ASOS. They always have pieces that are on-trend and affordable. We already know it’s one of Michele Obama’s favorite brands and I must concur with the First Lady. Midi skirts with pockets are trending right now but I think they’re a classic that will never go out of style. This one is a beautiful red plaid in a heavy wool and polyester blend. It’s perfect for this frigid New York City weather. To help keep me warm, I’m also wearing some thick cable knit leggings. I don’t recall where I purchased them but they’re not difficult to find.

I accessorized this look with my pearl studs and necklace from My Pacific Pearls. I often wear pearls to complete many formal looks. They’re classic and will always work in a number of settings. I’m also wearing one of my latest additions to my vintage collection. A Vincent de Koven fur pillbox hat. This hat was given to me by mother-in-law and it belonged to her mother. Living in New Orleans, this hat was not used often so I was thrilled to accept this gift.

Lastly, I completed the look with these faux leather and suede Soda Anisa stiletto booties. I purchased them at a Buffalo Exchange in New Orleans. They have a small platform and the heel is quite high [for me], which extends the legs and makes me look taller. I wouldn’t wear such a full skirt with flats as it can make you look shorter and wider than you actually are.

Here is a closer look at my accessories and makeup. I used Mary Kay products for this natural holiday makeup look. Tutorial coming to the blog very soon!
