We hosted a football viewing party last night for what some have called, “the game of the century.”

The #1 ranked college football team in the country, the LSU Tigers, played the #2 team, the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alright. Allow me to come clean – A few years ago, you may have heard me ask how many home runs it takes to win a football game but I’ve come a long way. I think it’s important for one to take an interest in their partner’s hobbies and passions. Football happens to be one of my partner’s passions – Louisiana football to be specific. The night the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl may be one of the best days of his life. I’m just happy I was there to witness it all.
Like I said, taking an interest is a must. But if you can genuinely enjoy it, it’s a HUGE plus for both of you. As a pinup/retro-loving mom, I’ll take any excuse to be a hostess with the mostest
Take a look at my purple and gold creations. As you can see, I discovered food coloring and am now obsessed. I want to color everything. My poor fiancé will be eating blue pasta, red rice (hello, Valentine’s Day!) and whatever else I can come up with in the near future.
My spicy purple potato salad (it should have been all purple potatoes but I mixed in a few red ones so that we could have enough for everyone):
My purple and gold shrimp puffs (recipe is from Food Network Magazine):
I made these dishes purple by adding food coloring to their respective mayo bases. Here is the potato salad base:
And, of course, I had to do a purple and gold make-up look. This turned out much better than I thought:

Oh, and the LSU Tigers beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in overtime. It was awesome!
