Fit Friday: Favorite Health/Fitness Apps

I love loading my electronic devices with health and fitness apps. It encourages me to workout and live healthier every time I see them. Below is a list of my current favorite Health and Fitness apps.

Best Calorie Counter, Diet & Exercise Journal:

My Fitness Pal

My Fitness Pal allows you to log everything you eat and drink during your day. It also lets you log any exercise you’ve done to help you manage your calorie intake. Create a profile and set your goals on the app and it’ll tell you how much you need to consume in order to reach your goal. It’s super easy to track everything you do and eat.

Best Motivator:

Fitocracy

Fitocracy is like something I’ve never seen or done before. It’s a health and fitness social network that empowers you to achieve your goals. The app provides a library of workout routines with gaming elements so keep you engaged. You can earn points, unlock new fitness levels and badges, and interact/encourage other users. They’ve also just launched online, personal fitness groups lead by accomplished coaches. This app is fun and seriously addictive.

Best Apps to Workout to:

You Are Your Own Gym

YAYOG is my husband’s favorite fitness app and we often do this together. This app generates a 4-move exercise routine that you repeat over and over again (with 10 second resting periods between each set) for however many sets you’d like. It is very easy to follow so you can create exercises that are right for you and for the amount of time that best fits your schedule. No weights or tools needed because…you can be your own gym!

POPSUGAR Active

I love POPSUGAR and all that they offer. A new app they created is POPSUGAR Active, which provides downloadable workouts to your phone and tablet. These diverse workouts can be filtered by workout time (5 or 45 minutes), activity and focus area (butt, arms, thighs, etc.). Not only are these routines easy to follow and fun, they’re also wonderful to look at! Great high quality videos and workouts that work. Love love love!

Best Healthy Recipe App:

Pinterest

Okay, so Pinterest isn’t really a recipe app but it does contain an abundance of recipes for every occasion and with any ingredient you can think up. I love using Pinterest to find healthy recipes and healthy meal ideas. What the heck can you make with chia seeds? How can you get your husband to eat Quinoa? Find the answers to these questions and more on Pinterest.

All of these apps are available in the Apple’s App Store.
