POPSUGAR’s Currently Trending Beauty Event at Lord & Taylor

Last night I attended POPSUGAR‘s Currently Trending Event at Lord & Taylor. What an amazing way to learn about what will be “in” for the fall

They set up several beauty bars dedicated to certain beauty areas and trends. Photographed above are the polish, skin and smokey eye bars.
There was a hair bar where women were able to get their hair braided or curled. Loose curls is a trend that is here to stay. Braids are a very sweet way to add some interest to your regular ‘do. Loose or polished, try this trend in the fall.
The nail bar was also a big hit. This fall we’ll see a lot of nude and pastel shades. We’ll also see shades of burgundy and every hue of purple you can think of – from pale lilac to dark plum. The nail art trend has also been kicked up a notch on the runways and we’ll definitely see it translate onto the streets. Dip your toes literally and figuratively into this season’s nail trend by adding sparkle and texture to your mani/pedi.
My favorite bar had to be the lip bar. Ladies were able to sit down and try the latest “it” shades for the fall.
Makeup artist extraordinaire Alexander James (pictured below) informed me that the major lip trend this season is called au courant. This refers to rich berry tones and shades of burgundy. “You want your lips to look like you’ve just eaten a handful of berries,” said Alexander.
I certainly adored my deep plum lip look. It was created by using a berry colored lip liner blended over Bobbi Brown sheer lip color in cherry pink. It’s super sexy and perfect for colder nights.
