My Pinup Wedding

As most of you know by now, I’m getting married in June. This is the event planner’s dream and nightmare all at the same time. I have so many ideas and plans. I have a vision and lots of opinions. I just know it will be a incredibly difficult when the moment comes to let get and allow others to handle it all. I’m not very sure if I will even be capable of doing that. But until that moment arrives, I am having a great time planning our special day.

I’m not your average bride. In fact, we’re not your average couple. We have been in a committed relationship for a while (domestic partners since 2010) and welcomed a beautiful little girl last year. To stand up in front of a room of our closest friends and family and say “okay, now I commit to you and our life together” seems silly to us. Not to mention that we’re two individuals who never imagined getting married. But here we are…
We want our wedding to be a fun celebration of our life together. It’s a party!
I’m going for a vintage wedding look. Surprise surprise, right? Our venue is the Spirit of New York yacht so I will be incorporating the colors of the ship – navy and silver. I’ll be decorating the hall with lots of vintage white lace, crocheted doilies, old books, old artifacts from the 40s [and older] and faux pearls.
I’m going to be documenting some of my planning through this blog under the title “My Pinup Wedding”. I’ll post reviews for the companies I meet, ideas for easy DIY projects, How-To video tutorials and more. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
